Collaborating on Studio projects
Last updated: October 24, 2026
Studio lets you share projects with colleagues, manage access, and organize your work using tags and project settings.
Sharing a Project
Project owners can share projects with other Canvas users in the same organization, as either view-only or full editing.
To share a project:
Open the project and select Share.
Search for the colleague you'd like to invite.
Choose View-only or Full editing access.
View-only collaborators can watch the project and read everything, but can't send messages or click action buttons.
Full-editing collaborators can send messages, add attachments, stop the assistant, and click action buttons. Everything except managing sharing.
Send the invitation.
Your colleague receives an email invitation with a link to the project. Projects can only be shared with users in your organization.
Working on a Project Together
Multiple collaborators can access the same project, but Studio processes only one request at a time. If another collaborator is already working with the assistant, you'll see: "Another collaborator's request is in flight." Wait for their request to finish, then resend your message.
Organizing Projects with Tags
Tags help you categorize and find projects on the Overview screen.
To manage tags:
Select Manage tags….
Create a new tag or edit an existing one.
Choose a color to help identify the tag.
Apply tags to your projects.
You can rename, change the color of, or remove existing tags at any time.
Renaming and Archiving Projects
Use the ⋯ menu on a project tile or in the project header to:
Rename: Update the project's name.
Share: Manage collaborator access.
Archive: Remove a project from your active project list.
Archived projects are not deleted. You can find them by selecting Archived in the stage filter on the Overview screen.
Making a Plugin Public (Open Source)
You can request to share your plugin with the broader Canvas community by making it open source.
To submit a request:
Open the project's Share dialog.
Select Make this public (open source)….
Choose whether you'd like to be attributed by name or remain anonymous.
Submit your request.
Canvas is notified of your request and handles publishing the plugin's source code to the open-source library.
Once requested:
Your project displays a green Public badge.
Public plugins appear under the Public option in the Shared With filter.
The Public badge indicates that a request has been submitted. It does not necessarily mean the plugin has already been published to the open-source library.
