Plugin Click to Dial

Click to dial can also be configured by a plugin. Dialing Service settings make the patient header's primary number clickable when both DIALING_LABEL and DIALING_URL_TEMPLATE are set. Those settings affect the patient header only.

A plugin can make phone numbers clickable in three chart areas: the patient's own numbers, patient contacts, and external care team. For each area, the plugin chooses whether a click opens the device's phone app or is handled by the plugin itself. Fax numbers are never clickable.

Important: A plugin that answers replaces the Dialing Service settings rather than adding to them. A responding plugin speaks for every area, including areas it does not configure. This means the patient header stops using DIALING_URL_TEMPLATE unless the plugin explicitly includes the patient area. If the patient header no longer dials through your softphone after installing such a plugin, check whether the plugin is responding without configuring the patient area.

Developers can review the phone dial configuration reference docs.
